Liverpool target edges closer to Anfield and away from European giants

Liverpool target and Barcelona star Martin Montoya is edging closer to a summer exit after failing to negotiate terms on a new contract, according to reports on the SportsDirectNews website.

The young Spanish full-back will see his contract expire in June and whilst negotiations over a new deal continue, it is no secret that his agent is not happy that a deal hasn’t been all wrapped up yet.

And with in-form Dani Alves keeping his game time limited, he has been linked with a big time move to Liverpool this summer.

Brendan Rodgers is looking for a long-term replacement for Glen Johnson, and is keen to try and tempt Montoya to London.

The 22-year-old was seemingly happy with his role at the club but not a single minute on the field since the 3-1 defeat to Real Sociedad on 22 February has seen a change in thoughts.
