Man United boss wanted £150 million for games best

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he was disappointed to receive just £80million for the worlds best player Cristiano Ronaldo when he was sold to Real Madrid and believes Manchester United could have demanded a figure close to £150 million

The Portuguese flier has been sensational this season and finally beat off Lionel Messi for the crown of the games best.

Ferguson believes that the Spanish giants would have happily paid £150million for Ronaldo.

He is quoted in the Daily Express as saying: “I told David Gill to ask for £150m. Perez would have paid.

“The only thing that hurt me, and I said this repeatedly to David Gill, was that we didn’t demand enough.

“I told David, ‘Ask for £150m’.

“He said, ‘Don’t be silly. They’ll never pay £150m’
