Manchester United are set to step up their efforts for defender Gabriel Paletta.
The Argentinian-born centre-back has been in superb form this season for current club Parma.
There is a lot of interest from Italians sides but a return to the Premier League could be an option for the 28-year-old.
Paletta spent an unsuccessful year with Liverpool, under the management of former Reds boss Rafa Benitez, after joining from Argentinian outfit Banfield in 2006.
And according to the SportsDirectNews website, United are looking to add him to their squad as they look for an immediate replacement for Nemanja Vidic, who has now agreed to sign Inter Milan at the end of the season.
