Manchester United have been handed a boost in the race to sign Remy Cabella as Montpellier admit they won’t sell to Newcastle.
The Magpies remain interested in the 23-year-old, despite their failed bid in January.
But Montpellier president Louis Nicollin has admitted he does not want to sell their playmaker to the Tyneside outfit.
News which has put United on full alert, as they look to strengthen in key areas of the pitch this summer window.
United are lacking real quality all over the pitch and David Moyes is expected to spend big this summer, with Cabella reportedly high up on his shopping list
And Nicollin refuses to let Cabella join the Toon and has urged the 23-year-old to pick one of England’s heavyweights.
“We promised to let him leave. We will try to advise him to not leave for anywhere. Is Newcastle not a good destination? Don’t make me laugh,” he said.
“In England you have to go to Arsenal, Chelsea or any of the two Manchester teams.” (Daily Express)
