Atletico Madrid striker and Chelsea target Diego Costa has revealed the Spanish side accepted an offer to sell him in 2011
The in-demand striker is now one of the games best strikers and has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho keen to nail down his signature
The forward has been a first-team regular since the start of last season in which time he has scored 47 goals in 82 games.
And Costa admitted that things could have turned out much differently as Atletico had accepted an offer for him three years ago from a Turkish club and the move was set to go ahead.
As quoted on the SportsDirectNews website, he said: “My agent called me to go to Turkey.
“The club had accepted the offer and it was up to me. I went to train and the injury happened. It was very serious. This happened for a reason.”
