Manchester United boss David Moyes should be sacked if they fail to make it into Europe’s elite competition next season
That’s the view of ex-Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon at the end of a week in which the English giants’ sorry season plunged new depths.
A 2-0 first leg defeat in Greece to Olympiakos has left United on the brink of a costly last-16 Champions League exit.
And with an 11-point gap between themselves and the Premier League top four, Moyes’ flops look certain to miss out on the game’s most prestigious club competition in 2014-15.
That, according to Calderon, who was Real supremo from 2006 to 2009, would automatically get a boss bullet if he was at the Bernabeu.
The Spaniard, 62, said: “I’d change the manager if Real Madrid finished sixth and failed to reach the Champions League the next season. Of course I would.
“It’s a real disaster in every sense not to be in Europe. Not only in terms of the money you get from playing in the competition but from all your club sponsors.” (Daily Star)
