Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio Ausilio has revealed the Italians have rejected tempting offers from several clubs for Mateo Kovacic.
The 20-year-old is a known target for some of Europe’s top clubs, including Liverpool.
With Red’s leaky defence, which conceded 50 goals last season led to Manchester City nailing down the Premier League title.
And while that will be sorted out by boss Brendan Rodgers, it could be attack that may be a problem as Luis Suarez looks set to leave.
Players of Kovacic’s calibre could become a top targets for Rodgers, as he looks to fill the void that could be left by Suarez.
However, that doesn’t mean negotiations with Inter will prove easy, with Ausilio confirming the club had rejected several bids for the young star.
As quoted on the Daily Express, he was asked if Kovacic is not for sale, and the sporting director said: “Absolutely.
“In fact we have turned down various offers from big clubs.”
