Looking at the realistic challengers for this year’s title race looks to be straightforward. With the two leading contenders, Man City and Chelsea, we pretty much know what we’ll be getting – very strong overall title challenges and hard-to-beat performances. Third favourites Man United are more of an unknown quantity with Louis van Gaal at the helm, who is yet to make significant moves in the market. Arsenal may be a stronger proposition with Sanchez, and Liverpool will play open attacking football – but with a little less potency following the departure of Luis Suarez.
Last season’s Premier League campaign was probably the best in the whole 22-year history of the league to date. But the season in prospect looks like it might be even better.
So where does all this leave the dark horses Spurs? The sixth favourites are currently a huge price with most major bookmakers – at anything up to 66/1 to win the title. This may be a bridge too far, but for a top three finish, punters can still get up to 9/1.
Of course, Tottenham will be a completely different team with Mauricio Pochettino at the helm. The Argentine manager worked a minor miracle at Southampton and Spurs fans will be keen to see his free-flowing style adopted at White Hart Lane.
“Play the Spurs way” is often chanted at the Lane, and if one man was ever capable of ensuring that happens, then it’s surely Pochettino. The club also has a strong existing squad with some very big names. They managed a very creditable sixth last season with Tim Sherwood in charge – so anything is possible if Pochettino gets the best out of the existing players. And he’s shown he can do that.
He’ll surely want to make one or two changes before the end of August, but we’re yet to see any major moves in the market. In short – no-one quite knows what to expect of Spurs in the months ahead, but we can guarantee it will be very different – and crucially, Pochettino will command the respect of the existing players.
The result may well be that Spurs punch far above their expected weight and that 9/1 for a top tree finish may be looking great value in hindsight come Christmas. There may even be a way you can get a free bet on it if you fancy it.
Some casino sites like bgo casino, for example, along with 888, Skybet and others have some great introductory offers for new customers. Some of these sites also run a sports book – and that’s the thing to look out for. So with bgo, for example, you can get a 200% free bonus, tripling your own cash straight away. You then have to play through a few games, but with whatever is left (and you may get luckier still of course) you can then transfer the cash to the sports side of the site and bet where you like.
Whether that’s on Spurs for a top three finish or not is entirely up to you. But Pochettino will shake things up at White Hart Lane and Spurs will undoubtedly be a surprise package in the mouth-wateringly good season in prospect.
