Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen admits he does not know where his future lies after losing his place in the Gunners’ first team.
Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker are currently Arsene Wenger’s chosen partnership at the heart of the defence, and he has been linked with some of the games best clubs.
And despite the Gunners keen-ness to keep hold, he has admitted he does not know what the future holds.
As quoted on the TalkSport website, he said: “I do occasionally have the chance to play, but you must remember that the players in front of me are incredibly fit and play almost all the time,” he told Het Nieuwsblad.
“Of course I was hoping for more playing time.”
“I do not know [whether I will sign a new contract],” he added.
“We’ll see at the end of the season. We are very much in the title race and have a chance of winning the FA Cup. My future is currently not on the agenda.
“These are worries for later.”
