Atletico Madrid are looking into the possibility of a summer swoop for Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen.
The Belgian centre-back has found his playing time limited at the Emirates Stadium this season as boss Arsene Wenger prefers to use Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker instead.
That has led to concerns that the 28-year-old’s place in Belgium’s World Cup squad could be in danger.
