Wenger wants remain ‘chief hirer and firer’ before Arsenal deal signed

Arsene Wenger wants the final say on transfers at Arsenal before signing his new contract.

The Gunners boss is anxious to retain full control on comings and goings as he prepares to commit his future to the north Londoners.

Arsenal’s majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has confirmed Wenger will sign a new long-term deal, effectively tying the 64-year-old to the Emirates for the rest of his career.

But there have been repeated delays and Sunday People Sport understands that this is because the long-serving Wenger wants to remain chief hirer and firer.

Arsenal, who stormed into the FA Cup semi-finals with a 4-1 win over Everton yesterday, rely heavily on statisticians to identify talent but Frenchman Wenger wants to continue doing deals without interference. (Daily Mirror)

It will be interesting to see if the Frenchman does sign up
