Reports have revealed Manchester United have completed the signing of Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao.
Athletic announced earlier on Wednesday that they had rejected a £28.85m bid from United who unsuccessfully tried to sign Herrera on deadline day last summer.
However, the Metro website claim he has paid his own buy-out clause and got his move to Old Trafford.
Bilbao’s statement read: “The Football League has certified Athletic Club that player Ander Herrera Agüera has fulfilled the requirements of the applicable regulations valid for unilateral termination of the employment contract that bound him to our Club, by depositing today the amount of compensation established in the contract.
“The Athletic Club thanks Ander Herrera for his dedication during the three seasons he has enjoyed the club and wishes him the best in his future sports projects.
He scored five goals last season as Athletic finished fourth in La Liga but is yet to break into the Spain team.
